Home For Good Legislative Push, Events, Scrutiny of IDOC Facilities Planning, and Training in Advocacy and Reentry Support

Please take a look again at our post below from September 1 for details of the upcoming events and resources discussed there that you find at links in the sections of the website on Getting Involved, Upcoming Programs and Events and Books, Reports and Articles.

Please note in particular the opportunities described at the links in the sections of the website on Getting Involved and Advocacy in Illinois.

  • to participate in the push by a broad alliance of organizations in the upcoming legislative veto session to get the Home for Good legislation through the Illinois Senate (after passing the House in the spring) and on Governor Pritzker’s desk by Christmas – ways to get involved are described here.

Please also notice in the significant contributions to the ongoing discussion of the facilities plans and needs of the Illinois Department of Corrections:

  • the comprehensive new summary by the Illinois Sentencing Advisory Council of the Facility Master Plan Final Report to IDOC from CGL Companies consultants, here.
  • (for those with access the Tribune) the recent Tribune article by reform advocates suggesting that the State should reconsider the proposed $1.1 billion project to build new prisons in Illinois.

There is a lot to celebrate and a lot to do.
